In the first moto, Team Monster/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki rider Matt Walker got his best start of the season after he launched his KX™250F out of the gate into sixth with teammate Ivan Tedesco close behind. As the race progressed Walker advanced two positions while Tedesco moved up into sixth. Langston started in ninth and advanced one position before he was involved in a crash and went down. He recovered quickly but was forced to rally back from 16th. As the checkered flag dropped Walker crossed the line in fourth with Tedesco in sixth and Langston in tenth. Paul Carpenter was involved in a crash just past the start and was forced to pull out of the race.
In the second moto, Langston rounded the first turn in fourth with Tedesco back in eighth and charging for the lead. As the first lap was completed, Langston moved up into third and immediately began to gain ground on the leaders. Tedesco advanced two positions by the fourth lap while Walker advanced from 16th into 10th. Paul Carpenter started in ninth but was forced to pull off after encountering mechanical problems. As the final lap was completed, Langston finished in second with Tedesco in sixth and Matt Walker in ninth.
When the dust finally settled on the day, Langston was credited at fourth overall with his 10-2 finish. Tedesco was 6-6, for fifth overall and Walker 4-9, for seventh overall.
With their top ten overall finishes this weekend Tedesco extended his lead in the overall 125 point standings with Langston in fifth and Walker in ninth, making Team Monster/Pro Circuit/ Kawasaki the top-ranked team in AMA 125 competition. Carpenter remains in 11th place, still well within striking distance of the top ten.

In the first moto, Team Kawasaki rider Michael Byrne started in 12th and made a formidable charge for the lead throughout the duration of the event. The affable Australian advanced three positions before crossing the finish line in ninth. Byrne’s consistency continued straight into the second moto as he started in 12th and advanced into tenth before the checkered flag dropped. Byrne was credited with ninth overall for the weekend and remains in eighth place in the overall point standings.
Team Kawasaki rider James Stewart did not compete at Spring Creek this weekend after he sustained a severe hematoma to his lower right hip during a practice crash last Thursday. Team Kawasaki and Stewart’s physician determined that the best option would be for Stewart to refrain from riding to avoid aggravating the injury. Stewart is scheduled for additional evaluations later this week.
Team Kawasaki and Team Monster/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki move on to round ten, Aug. 20-21, at Broome-Tioga Sports Center in Binghampton, NY.
