Dutch Masters Markelo – Report

After the strong start of the world championship, Kemea Yamaha also achieved great results in the Dutch Masters. Jago Geerts finished fourth (3+6 in heats) in the first round of the Dutch Masters in Markelo. Geerts counted as many points as number three Davy Pootjes, but the Dutchman had a better result in the second heat which allowed him to step on the podium. Geerts’ teammate Vsevolod Brylyakov took fifth place (9+ 4). Ben Watson had, especially in the second heat, a lot of bad luck and finished in thirteenth position (7+26).

Team owner Hans Corvers: “It is a pity that Watson and Geerts were taken down at the start of the second that. Otherwise, Jago would certainly have been on the podium. Something he really deserved. Now he came short of one point. Anyway, I am satisfied with the performances of my riders. They continue to make progress.”

#18 Vsevolod Brylyakov
5th place overall
Vsevolod Brylyakov“I had a pretty good day in Markelo. A fifth place, without pushing to the limit: not bad. After my severe shoulder injury it’s important to get as much racing rhythm as possible. In that respect, it was a very good training for me. It was again a step forward.

#193 Jago Geerts
4th place overall
Jago Geerts“Of course it’s a pity that I just missed the podium, but I am satisfied with the way I raced. In the second heat, after I was caught up in a crash in the start, I came back from last to sixth place. Not bad at all. It was a very good practiceday. I’m already looking forward to the GP in Valkenswaard on Sunday.”

#919 Ben Watson
13th place overall
“I wasn’t really lucky in Markelo. In the start of the second heat I got involved in a crash with a few riders. I came back to the front and seemed to be on my way to the top three, but then I made a small mistake on the table top and got stuck in a lot of mud along the track. But my riding was pretty good.”
